How to Qualify for Google Ad Grants:
- Use all donations for the achievement of your mission and not for personal gain.
- Have a functioning website with substantial content.
- Your ads must ONLY link to the ONE nonprofit website URL that was approved in the application.
- You are required to actively manage the AdWords account by logging in monthly. Should you not log in to your account for 30 days, your account will be subject to pausing without notification.
- Strictly commercial advertising is not allowed through this program. If you intend to promote products or services, 100% of the sales and/or proceeds must support your program.
- Your ads must reflect the mission of the approved nonprofit organization and your keywords must be relevant to the nonprofit’s programs and services.
Good to Know:
To be considered for the Google for Nonprofits program, your tax status must first be updated in the online database; copies of IRS letters are not sufficient for this requirement.
It can take some time from when your organization receives your IRS notification of this status until your EIN appears and is updated in the online database.
Why Isn’t Everyone Doing It?
Once you start using Google Grants, there are requirements that need to be fulfilled:
1. Clicks must not cost more than $2 each. In order to have a very low cost per click and still get the right clicks (meaning the clicks that lead to donations) it’s best to have an experienced and efficient account manager.
2. Most organizations aren’t able to utilize all of the $10,000 because it’s a thin line between getting a lot of traffic and getting quality traffic.
